{"id":4697,"date":"2012-03-02T22:27:30","date_gmt":"2012-03-02T22:27:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gailmcnaughton.com\/blog\/?p=4697"},"modified":"2012-03-02T22:28:51","modified_gmt":"2012-03-02T22:28:51","slug":"ashleys-return-home-to-heaven-poem-doodle-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gailmcnaughton.com\/blog\/ashleys-return-home-to-heaven-poem-doodle-art\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashley\u2019s Return Home To Heaven &#8211; Poem &#038; Doodle Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ashley\u2019s Return Home To Heaven<\/span><\/p>\n<p>By Gail McNaughton, January 20, 2011<\/p>\n<p>She raised her arms toward heaven.<\/p>\n<p>Her hair in tangles, tossed about,<\/p>\n<p>Got caught in the branches of a flowering apple tree.<\/p>\n<p>She was trying to float on the wind in the direction towards heaven.<\/p>\n<p>A dove wrapped its wings around her,<\/p>\n<p>And lifted her high above the branches,<\/p>\n<p>Helping her find her way.<\/p>\n<p>God peeked through the billowy, white clouds,<\/p>\n<p>And gently lifted Ashley onto his lap.<\/p>\n<p>He rocked her in his arms,<\/p>\n<p>And smiled at her as his loving child.<\/p>\n<p>As he cradled her, she asked many questions,<\/p>\n<p>And was soothed with his answers.<\/p>\n<p>The dove spread out his wings,<\/p>\n<p>And Ashley lay on top,<\/p>\n<p>Feeling cozy on the blanket of feathers.<\/p>\n<p>He flew her to The House Of The Angels,<\/p>\n<p>And they welcomed her.<\/p>\n<p>She met old and new friends and felt quite at home.<\/p>\n<p>They encouraged her,<\/p>\n<p>To have one last look for now, through the glass floor,<\/p>\n<p>And she could see her family, friends and colleagues far below.<\/p>\n<p>She sent them warm wishes,<\/p>\n<p>From her heart to theirs which they all felt with great affection.<\/p>\n<p>The angels tied her hair with forget-me-nots,<\/p>\n<p>And bathed her in rose water filled with pink petals.<\/p>\n<p>She felt fresh from her journey,<\/p>\n<p>And the special day of her soul\u2019s return to heaven.<\/p>\n<p>Warm sunlight shone upon her,<\/p>\n<p>And Ashley closed her eyes,<\/p>\n<p>As the angels knelt beside her in prayer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe love you just as your family and friends do\u201d,<\/p>\n<p>Was the whisper through their chanting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour family will always be there for you,<\/p>\n<p>But we will now take our turn in your care.<\/p>\n<p>We will smile upon you as you sleep,<\/p>\n<p>And know that in your dreams,<\/p>\n<p>You can visit home anytime.<\/p>\n<p>Sleep dear Ashley sleep,<\/p>\n<p>And wake to the new dawn and a new transition,<\/p>\n<p>And be at peace evermore\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gailmcnaughton.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/poster-final-approved.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-4700\" title=\"Ashley's Return Home To Heaven\" src=\"https:\/\/gailmcnaughton.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/poster-final-approved.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"635\" height=\"981\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gailmcnaughton.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/poster-final-approved.jpg 792w, https:\/\/gailmcnaughton.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/poster-final-approved-194x300.jpg 194w, https:\/\/gailmcnaughton.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/poster-final-approved-662x1024.jpg 662w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gail will be reading the poem <strong>Ashley&#8217;s Return Home To Heaven<\/strong> at this event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ashley\u2019s Return Home To Heaven By Gail McNaughton, January 20, 2011 She raised her arms toward heaven.
