The Four Seasons Mixed Media Art

This is the latest Mixed Media artwork I have done.  I put a border around the outside and it has various colours in it of green, black and fray.  The artwork moves from Winter on the right to Fall on the left.  You can see that I continue with my doodle art evolution even in this art with dots and slashes and such.  There is a nest in the tree in Spring with two eggs in it and a Cardinal in the tree in the Summer.  This artwork is sitting on the glass table up north with a bear candle (given to me by a neighbour Judy) on the right and another bird’s nest on the left (bought at the Horton Farmer’s Market.  I am going to add some gold on the dark leaves of Fall.  I have added glitter (sparkles that I love) to the snow in the Winter scene but it is hard to see.  To make snow we added salt to the water colour and it bubbled and then when the paint was dry you brush it off.  You will see typical seasonal foliage along the bottom.  I had lots of fun doing this.

The Four Seasons

The seasons of our lives are captured in this Four Seasons Mixed Media art.  Do we run and hide in the Winter or play outside and dance in the snowflakes seeing the sparkle of nature around us?  Do we take on new things in our lives in the Spring like moving, planning events, taking courses, self evaluation?  Do we search high and low for Spring Flowers to pick to put inside?  Do we luxuriate in the summer with its warm climate, magical flora and song-filled trees of our birdie friends?  Do we think about our past in the Fall or anticipate where we are going as we get back into the swing of things after the romance and recreation of Summer?  Fall is my favourite time of the year and I anticipate cool nights, soft lighting, autumn walks in the forest or down a country road.  It is a time when the trees and branches shine with spectacular colour and I feel like God has painted the earth.  There is nothing like having falling leaves spread their wings and brush your body while sunbathing in the sunlight as they make a welcome mat for you to walk on.

A Doodle is an Art

A doodle is an art. You can do this awesome art when you are also busy in some other interaction. A doodle is a type of sketch, an unfocused drawing made while a person’s attention is otherwise occupied elsewhere. Doodles are simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just be abstract shapes. Stereotypical examples of doodling are found in school notebooks, often in the margins, drawn by students daydreaming or losing interest during class. Other common examples of doodling are produced during long telephone conversations if a pen and paper are available.

Heaven’s Lavender Harvest

Heaven’s Lavender Harvest

The angels watch over the growth of the lavender and flit about over the fields smelling the fragrant plants and picking bouquets to take home to their angel friends.   They like to exchange gifts with other angels who watch over crop fields, dairy farms, strawberry patches, lilac trees, poppy fields and all things related to nature.  They bring Joy, Love and Peace to the world through all their giving and receiving and watchful eyes.  They give us hints how to till the land, harvest the crop and bring it to market.

This doodle art is dedicated to Lavender Sense in Wallacetown.

The Power In A Flower

The Power In A Flower

Women have sacred energy of Power that is embedded in their intuition.  When we need to use it, we can go deep within to find it.  It takes faith of our true selves that we actually have power but once we find it and know it is there, we can release it in whatever we do with a flow of energy that is felt by all in a loving and creative way.  Bless the female energy.  Bless the power in each and every flower.

Chinese Blue Chic – Mixed Media

Chinese Blue Chic

I see myself as the Chinese Blue Chic.  My favourite colour is turquoise blue.  As baby birds we grow up.  We leave home.  We fly back.  We seek our destiny far and wide.  We have bird cages to live in with family and friends.  The cages represent many places we stop at along the way – school, business, community, etc.  We have many opportunities where to spend our time.  We are loved and cared for, then we take care of ourselves, then we take care of others through parenting, friendships and as colleagues or neighbours.  Let your baby bird make choices and help him or her fly to a greater awareness of living life with love, compassion, gratitude, joy, faith and fun and finding your purpose and ultimate destiny along the way.  The name Gail, my name, means “Gives Joy”, “A Father’s Joy”, “Father of Exaltation”.  To my Dad, who could bring the birds out of the trees with his whistle, I must have been his “Joy” when born.

Share Your Heart With Those You Love

My friends are Heart Cat, Princess Lacy Gracey, Mommy Bear, Flowercat and Lu-Lu Fairy.  They live within my heart and bring me joy, faith and gratitude.  Their love opens my heart so that I may share Valentine’s love with others.  Make my family your family too and walk with us hand in hand to make the world a better place to live, work and prosper – all with love in our hearts.

VALENTINE’S LOVE

By Gail McNaughton, February 14, 2012

Share your heart,

With those you love.

Open up to a richer, deeper emotion,

That is freeing, refreshing and revitalizing.

Look around you,

And see who cares for you,

And love them back,

With deep joy, faith and gratitude.

We are all loveable in our own special way,

And finding the key to unlock the heart,

Is the biggest Valentine we can give one another.

Stand up and be counted amongst the human race,

As one…

Who can share your heart,

With those you love,

And now, with those you don’t even know,

For you’ve witnessed the power of love,

And help one another,

Be a special Valentine,

Not just today but everyday.

Home Sweet Home Spaghetti Dinner In Kitchen

Home Sweet Home

In the hearth of the kitchen, Spaghetti is in the big red pot, that was purchased from Goodwill beckons closer examination.  Black and brown noodles have been cooked with some tomatoes.  Bread awaits the eaters.  Wine is served to the cook.  The young man sitting on the swing slurps up noodles delighting in how long they are and how tasty.  If he swings too far, as the worrying woman imagines, he might overturn the pot and then all the scatter rugs will be filled with noodles and sauce.  Best not to give him any vino!

Cucumbers For Sale

For some people it is play time at the Market but for others it is a sales day.  The birds even get in on the fun.  As long as the market vendor has enough, she is willing to share and let the juggling continue.  She is wearing her favourite shirt that says “We love vegetables!  Try making cucumber salsa and then invite us all over.

Field Of Colourful Sunflowers (Mixed Media Painting)

Field Of Colourful Sunflowers

Sunflowers with their cute little faces make us feel so good, especially if you walk through a field and look up at them.  They are majestic with thick, mile high stocks and make you relish in God’s Gifts of nature.  How could a little seed produce such magnificence?  Children are like that aren’t they?  When they grow up they are beautiful human beings that start with the nurturing and caring of the seed in the womb and are watered and fed till they achieve independence.  They become the new generation of mankind.  When you see a sunflower field, know that God shines in every face just as he does in the face of each of us.
