Tissue Paper Art

I have enrolled in a Mixed Media program with the St. Thomas Art Centre and this is what I did last night that I wanted to share with you.  We were supposed to be doing Birch Trees and were each given a magazine picture to refer to.  As usual I never listen and do my own thing.  Susan was a very good student and will finish her art this weekend.

The green for the grass were plastic colour swatches that I think Norma gave to me.  Then I applied my doodle art style paint to them as well as a few colours of paint in the sky.  Some of these plastic swatches also show up in the lake.  This is all tissue paper in various colours and my art has depth of field which I don’t know if you will pick up but the poppies and larger (2) flowers stand out.  The larger two flowers and surrounding area on the left were made of flowered tissue paper.  You are seeing whatever you wish to see but to me it is a  poppy field by the water’s edge with a wonderful sky.  You use podge to apply to the board to secure the tissue paper and keep layering the tissue paper cutting or tearing strips and podging it.  I have podge on my nails and if you use hand cream it is easier to get off.
