Tissue Paper Art

I have enrolled in a Mixed Media program with the St. Thomas Art Centre and this is what I did last night that I wanted to share with you.  We were supposed to be doing Birch Trees and were each given a magazine picture to refer to.  As usual I never listen and do my own thing.  Susan was a very good student and will finish her art this weekend.

The green for the grass were plastic colour swatches that I think Norma gave to me.  Then I applied my doodle art style paint to them as well as a few colours of paint in the sky.  Some of these plastic swatches also show up in the lake.  This is all tissue paper in various colours and my art has depth of field which I don’t know if you will pick up but the poppies and larger (2) flowers stand out.  The larger two flowers and surrounding area on the left were made of flowered tissue paper.  You are seeing whatever you wish to see but to me it is a  poppy field by the water’s edge with a wonderful sky.  You use podge to apply to the board to secure the tissue paper and keep layering the tissue paper cutting or tearing strips and podging it.  I have podge on my nails and if you use hand cream it is easier to get off.

Fresh Fest Doodle Art

Fresh Fest is a big celebration in St. Thomas & Elgin County – it is a celebration of Food and Drink.  It is a time to mix and mingle and enjoy the fruits of labour of many people in agriculture.  The local produce and local businesses come together and entertain us with Chef’s cooking up a storm.  Sampling food is the name of the game.  “Elgonia” shows you her basket of produce that she is proud to present.  You will be proud to eat, drink and enjoy life in the heart of SW Ontario agriculture and especially at Fresh Fest in August.  By day she grows vegetables on her farm and the sunshine and healthy living have produced cute little freckles on her face.  She brings the harvest to St. Thomas which is always bountiful in any season.  She loves the fact that her fruits and vegetables go into the preparation of many succulent and gourmet appetizers, entrees and desserts.  Buy local and buy fresh she promotes everywhere she goes so let’s help her along and do the same.

We Love You Doodle Art

Stuffed animals make the best friends.  “Floppy” the dog sits on my dresser watching me as I sleep.  “Mommy Millie Bear” makes sure that Floppy is quiet as I sleep.  Flowercat ™ has one arm supporting Floppy so she won’t fall off.  We bring our stuffed animals with us from childhood and mine are still part of my life as an adult but I must admit this is the second “Floppy” in my life.  “Floppy” # 1 must have gone to heaven to be cuddled by boys and girls there.  The first one was a Pyjama Bag and you could keep secret things inside but this new one is a cuddly toy.  I still have “Kiltz” who also is a Pyjama Bag and several of my dolls.  I must admit though, I collect Raggedy Anne dolls and other stuffed animals so I’ve grown young by being older!  “Fleecy”, our golden doodle dog, loves a stuffed animal and especially one that has a squeaker in it.  She has her own but continually wants Mr. Bunny who sits in a chair in our living room.  Unfortunately she removes the squeaker and stuffing from her animals but is very happy tossing them around when all is said and done.  I guess they are lighter than dragging a stuffed bear across the floor and she has something that looks like a hairy rat that she consumes with her tongue.  Use the things from your past as part of your decor to remind you of your childhood days.  Remember When’s are good for all of us.  Nothing says that adults can’t hug a cuddly stuffed animal and believe me, they don’t talk back, are positive and loving.  “We Love You” they say and we can say the words back.  Take a stuffed toy to someone in a long term care or in a hospital and when the chips are up or down, they will be lovingly valued.

Valentine Face Doodle Art

We all feel like the Queen Of Hearts when we are in love.  Cupid has touched our very being with magic.  We feel light as a feather.  We feel Love, Joy and Serenity but we also feel like eating Chocolate and drinking Champagne amongst a garden filled with Flowers and little Critters like Birds and Dogs.  Love can be anywhere and the hearts just drift cross your being and the arrow of Cupid hits you and it takes hold.  Heart are like bubbles and float in and out of your body sinking deeper into your fibre of being and explode with the energy of passion for our own well being.  Next thing we know we’re wearing them as an outward expression of our inward feeling.  When you are single just enjoy that stage of your life.  Share your love with your friends, family and pets.  It will make you a better person to accept love in the next stage.  Loving yourself first is key to happiness in a relationship with someone else.   If you were married or in a relationship and are now single, just revisit the love that you shared and try to eliminate the anger, fear, resentment and negativity.  Know that if you’ve loved and been loved, it is a great gift and that gift can manifest itself again.  When people bring you a gift of love from their heart to yours, hold it dearly and with respect for it is the greatest gift of the universe.  Valentine’s Day is any day of the year so don’t get caught up on just one day to celebrate Love, Joy and Chocolate.

Find The Star Within

Find The Star Within

Dedicated to all Self Seeking Searchers

The mature person, with gray hair, is in quiet reflection in front of the Christmas tree.  The Christmas tree is the ladder of her successes to date as denoted by the stars hung on the tree.  She is soul searching through meditation for more strengths and successes and has two more to find, for now.  She knows they are there and holds the stars in anticipation of finding them.

We need to soul search from time to time and Christmas and the New Year is a good time to do this.  We ask ourselves many questions about where we’ve been and what we want to develop further.  Do we want to be more compassionate?  Do we want to be more joyful?  Do we want to be more forgiving?  Each of us knows what we need, to grow and learn.  Those stars already hung on the tree are our map of what we’ve already accomplished and who we are to date.  We will always find another branch to hang a new star on so our task is never quite done.

If we base our lives on Love and Joy we will be able to flower to help others.  We flower from the inside out as seen by the woman wearing a flower in her clothing.  We learn by being in relationships and there are many roles we play with one another.  Joy and Love keeps us stable and able to ground ourselves to expand more.

Surrounding us is a network of possibility, potential and the support of others.  There are those in our circle, as seen by the small, pink, hearts at the top left and bottom right of the page.  There is a bigger universe as seen in the floating, large, pink hearts.  Each large heart has millions and millions of caring, nurturing, pulsating, cells that align themselves to make things happen that we wish for.  The bounty of the universe is endless and it unfolds to us.  It is there.  We sometimes cannot see its magnificence, and all it requires is that we trust.  It is energy spiralling in the cosmos – it a “collective” that we ourselves fuel.

“To Find The Star Within” just relax in life and spend gentle time with yourself thinking.  Make a visual list on a daily basis of your accomplishments.  See them grow into stars.  Pay homage to the world and thank everything in your circle of being for bringing you this far.  Gratitude is one of the key resources to find the star within for when you are grateful for what you have, you can move forward to find new things to be grateful for, and often they are our very own attributes, skills and successes.  Seeing these in one another will help us see them in ourselves.

Hang this doodle art close by so you can remember to find time for spiritual growth through meditation, relaxation and sleep.  Your tree will soon be filled with stars and your light will continue to grow all over your tree.  You will illuminate brighter and brighter.  The world will know who you are by taking your rightful place in the universe and seeing your world-wide glow.

I Will Help You

“I Will Help You”

I belong to a group of 10 dynamic, supportive, caring women and we all originated at the same space in time over 25 years ago through working in the computer industry. This special doodle art called “I’ll Help You”, is to commemorate our Friendship. Mommy Millie Bear is there to help put up the Christmas Tree and the lights so there is always help around each and every corner and you never have to be alone or do things by yourself. She represents all Mothers who are here and those who have passed over. Fleecy the Golden Doodle Dog, Calvin Fox, Sally Spider, Happy Cat on the Steps, Flowercat in the hanging Picture and the Angel, Angelica, on top of the tree all look on. Calvin Fox represents our Fathers, small in size in the doodle art, but mighty in stature and key figures in our lives. The other animals are our friends, neighbours, family, particularly our siblings and the rest of the world – those acquaintances including angels and fairies. We sip tea, we drink wine and we dine together in the spirit of community and sisterhood. We are there to help one another. Sometimes we are better at it than other times and we learn to help by listening, showing empathy, understanding and compassion. We find joy in the evolution of our lives and entangle more each time we meet, write or e-mail, even though some of us have moved away. Distance is only a footstep away and the Welcome Mat is front and centre in each of our homes. We keep a candle burning and we watch the days of our lives pass by on the calendar, through the passing of the seasons and watching our clocks – days, weeks and finally years add up – all those seconds add up to minutes, to hours and 24 hours flies by and then 365 days are upon us. We are eternal. We give one anther “the gift of time” when we try and get together on a monthly basis. Christmas is special as we reunite once again. We are like a “teacup” and each of us contains the “spirit within” to be fruitful to humanity and especially our fellow girlfriends. The name of each FEX is on the limbs of the coniferous tree for we are jewelled, sparkly ornaments who blossom and glitter and our branches are sturdy and steadfast, gentle enough to hold a baby or a pet and strong enough to support the trials and tribulations of life. The woman putting up the tree represents “Any Woman” (woman of the world) who needs help. We are a body of spirit, soul and heart and the feminine presence in the world as friend, mother, colleague, sister, grandmother, etc. is ever present. It is joyous to be a woman in 2011 and beyond. We wish power, grace, wisdom, compassion, love and joy for each woman in the world.

SuperHero Heart Doodle Art

Others are there to support the Superhero.  We are angels at heart for we have wings to share with the world.  Fleecy our golden doodle dog sits in front of me (and is the faithful friend to the end and knows the SuperHero you are).  Flowercat is on the left side (Flowercat’s mission is to heal the world and this doodle came to me in a dream and is my original doodle that helps everyone).  Sally & Lois Spiders hang around in their web waiting to help (they have many helping hands).  Chilli-Chika, the bird on the right listens and makes the call for action.  We all need friends, colleagues and other SuperHeroes to make us who we are and see our potential.  There are many things that I can write about this doodle art.  One thing I discovered over 5 years ago when I started doing these doodles is that when you put a heart around a human figure like in the doodle art, it gives that person wings and makes them angelic.  Wouldn’t the world be a better place if each of us were more angelic.  Wear your wings today and help someone else.
